Let the HILL RUNNING begin!!!

The Winter Circuit just isnt the same no more. Loved it when you could show up and have a good group of guys to run with. Don't get me wrong I love seeing everybody up there and talking to all the runners. But a couple years back it was an awesome showing from the FRB. You had Jon, Cody, Chad, Sasha, Paul and many others. I don't know the Circuit is great winter training and maybe thats how I should approach it.

Anyways now that I have pored my heart out. The race went really good, for me I am not a really good hill runner so I try to just position myself and hope for the best.

First mile all gradual up, managed a 5:28

second mile has 2 steep climbs and and a bombing section of downhill- 5:48

3rd mile has a little section of climbing but majority of it is down- 5:12

Overall time was 16:58. Good race for myself, but no the best. I guess a positive would be is that I managed about 20 seconds faster than last year.

Next race is in 2 weeks.

Nice race Ben! That is a hard course!!

From Paul on Sat, Feb 11, 2012 at 14:25:31 from 184.96.141.187

Pretty good time on that course. Nice work.

From fiddy on Sat, Feb 11, 2012 at 15:17:16 from 97.126.211.101

Excellent run on that course.

From Jon on Sat, Feb 11, 2012 at 15:24:59 from 98.71.181.5

Yeah, that is a great time on the course. Sorry we aren't there to push each other anymore- we really did have a good group for a while. Just gotta get Albert up there with you.

Nice job Ben. I hear those Strider's courses are tough. Unfortunately the SLCTC Winter Series dilutes the competition and many people in SLC probably pick the SLCTC series because it's closer.

From Cody on Sat, Feb 11, 2012 at 17:46:48 from 67.177.0.196

Ahh, those were the days....Such horrible memories of that course. I do miss it though. Great job today! That is a fast time on that course. Looking good.

From Kam on Sat, Feb 11, 2012 at 18:33:52 from 67.2.33.164

One thing is certain, the course is perfect for horrible memories. The race director had a sadistic streak 3.1 miles long.

Great race! I've enjoyed doing no races this winter, but I do miss that circuit. See you at the half

From Jon on Sat, Feb 11, 2012 at 20:46:26 from 98.71.181.5

It's a good thing Cody isn't running the series this year. I hear it took him 2.5 hours to run less than 6 miles today!

From Ben VanBeekum on Sun, Feb 12, 2012 at 18:50:34 from 67.169.246.116

Thanks everybody for the congrats!!!

Jon ya I am glad that Cody didnt come. I love to watch all the finishers and I don't think there is that much time in the day for me ;)

@Fritz- you should come to Ogden for one of these races. It would be fun running with ya for a little bit. Should come run the WRC Half. First part of Ogden usually good times.

Nice race Ben. These courses must be as tough as advertisied - you've been running 17 minute 5K splits on long tempo runs :-)

You're off to a great start this year - keep it going!!

From DaleG on Thu, Feb 16, 2012 at 02:58:45 from 152.216.11.5

Nice job, Ben. I used to like doing the series, but at one point, I started dreading each race, so I decided to take a break from it.
